In the first match, France roared back to beat Argentina 4-3, with Mbappe scoring twice. Later in Sochi, Ronaldo — who started the World Cup with a hat-trick against Spain — was powerless to prevent Portugal slipping out of the tournament as Edinson Cavani scored twice in a 2-1 win to send the European champions home. Clinical Cavani gives Ronaldo a finishing masterclass to dump out Portugal

The PSG striker scored with both of his shots on goal as Uruguay knocked the European champions out of the World Cup with a 2-1 win in Sochi First Lionel Messi, now Cristiano Ronaldo. The World Cup has lost its two biggest names. Both bowed out on the same day. Both failed to score, meaning both remain without a goal in the knockout stage of the tournament's knockout stage. Edinson Cavani, though, has two; the two that eliminated Ronaldo and European champions Portugal on an absorbing night of drama at the Fisht Stadium in Sochi. This last-16 clash had been billed as a straight shootout between Clasico rivals Ronaldo and Suarez but it was Cavani who proved the deadliest marksman on the pitch. Indeed, 'El Matador' provided a masterclass in the art of finishing: two shots, two goals. They were things of beauty too. Suarez had been asked on the eve of the game if there was any rivalry between him and Cavani. "Not at all," he replied. "We w...

Saraki Calls For Removal Of Security Chiefs

The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has called for the removal of Nigeria’s security chiefs over the continued killings and security challenges in the country. Dr Saraki made the call on Saturday when he paid a visit to communities affected by a rainstorm in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. Hundreds of Nigerians have been killed in 2018 in several parts of the country and Saraki believes no society should witness such as situation and carry on as usual. But for the “politicisation of issues” the Senate President said the warnings of the National Assembly about the dangerous trend in the country would have been heeded and changes made. “As you know, the National Assembly under my leadership, many months back, had seen this danger, called for a security summit, we had addressed the issue of security architecture. We had said that there is definitely a failure of the security architecture of the country,” the Senate President said. To address the alleged failure, the ...
